According to information reported by the Water Transport Bureau and the Ministry of Communications: Analysis report on the capacity of coastal inter-provincial freight ships in the first half of 2022:

Dry bulk carrier capacity: As of June 30, 2022, there were 2,326 dry bulk carriers (more than 10,000 tons, excluding heavy cargo ships, multi-purpose ships and other general cargo ships, the same below), 7,607.6 10,000 dwt (some ships have changed their dwt after inspection, with a total reduction of 4,000 dwt), an increase of 91 ships and 1.136 million dwt compared with the end of 2021, a tonnage increase of 1.5%. In the first half of 2022, 135 new ships with a capacity of 2.906 million dwt were added. In addition to the mandatory scrapping of 5 ships and 273,000 dwt ships, the company adjusted its transportation capacity, and a total of 39 ships with a capacity of 1.493 million dwt were withdrawn from the market. The average age of dry bulk carriers for inter-provincial transportation along the coast is 10.9 years, a decrease of 0.1 year from the end of 2021. Among them, there were 251 and 22 old ships (over 18 years old) and specially inspected ships (over 28 years old), accounting for 10.8% and 0.9% of the total. Compared with the end of 2021, the proportion of old ships and ships under special inspection decreased by 0.7% and 0.4% respectively.

Container ship capacity: As of June 30, 2022, there were 336 coastal inter-provincial container ships (above 700 TEU, excluding multi-purpose ships, the same below), with a container capacity of 798,000 TEU, an increase of 14 from the end of 2021 , The container capacity increased by 11,000 TEU, and the container capacity increased by 1.3%. In the first half of 2022, there will be 22 new capacity ships with a capacity of 30,000 TEU; no ships will be forced to be scrapped; a total of 8 container ships (with a capacity of 19,000 TEU) will withdraw from the market ahead of schedule. The average age of coastal inter-provincial container ships is 9.7 years, a decrease of 0.2 years from the end of 2021. Among them, there were 36 and 3 old ships (over 20 years old) and specially inspected ships (over 29 years old), accounting for 10.7% and 0.9% of the total. Compared with the end of 2021, the proportion of old ships decreased by 1.1%, the number of special inspection ships was the same as that at the end of 2021, and the proportion of ships decreased by 0.1%. 

Liquid cargo dangerous goods shipping capacity:

(1) Oil tankers. As of June 30, 2022, there were a total of 1,201 coastal inter-provincial oil tankers (including crude oil tankers, product tankers, excluding oil and chemical dual-use tankers) with a total deadweight of 11.375 million (some ships changed their deadweight after inspection, and the total Nuclear reduction of 13,000 deadweight tons), a year-on-year decrease of 23, an increase of 234,000 deadweight tons, a tonnage increase of 2.1%. In the first half of 2022, 31 new ships with a capacity of 388,000 dwt will be added; a total of 54 ships with a 141,000 dwt will be withdrawn from the market ahead of schedule. The average age of coastal inter-provincial oil tankers is 10.9 years, an increase of 0.1 year from the end of 2021. Among them, there are 481 old ships (over 12 years old) and 3 ships that have reached the age of special inspection (over 26 years old), accounting for 40% and 0.3% of the total number of ships. The number of old ships increased by 12 compared with the end of 2021, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%, and the number of special inspection ships was the same as that at the end of 2021.

(2) Chemical tankers. As of June 30, 2022, there were a total of 282 inter-provincial chemical tankers (including oil and chemical tankers, the same below) with 1.332 million dwt, a year-on-year decrease of 2 and an increase of 43,000 dwt. The tonnage increased by 3.3% (some ships have changed their deadweight after inspection, with a total reduction of 1,000 deadweight tons). In the first half of 2022, 15 new ships with 88,000 dwt will be added, and a total of 17 ships with 44,000 dwt will be withdrawn from the market ahead of schedule. The average age of coastal inter-provincial chemical tankers is 10.9 years, a decrease of 0.3 years from the end of 2021. Among them, there are 127 old ships (over 12 years old) and 2 ships that have reached the age of special inspection (over 26 years old), accounting for 45.0% and 0.7% of the total number of ships. The number of old ships decreased by 8 from the end of 2021, a year-on-year decrease of 5.9%, and the number of special inspection ships decreased by 1 from the end of 2021, a year-on-year decrease of 33.3%. 

(3) Liquefied gas carriers. As of June 30, 2022, there were a total of 79 inter-provincial liquefied gas carriers along the coast, with a total deadweight of 284,000, an increase of 2 vessels and a deadweight of 18,000 compared with the same period last year, a tonnage increase of 6.7%. In the first half of 2022, 4 new ships with a capacity of 21,000 dwt will be added; except for the mandatory scrapping of 2 ships with a 3,000 dwt, no ships will be withdrawn from the market ahead of schedule. The average age of coastal inter-provincial LNG carriers is 13.2 years, a decrease of 0.5 years from the end of 2021. Among them, there were 39 and 4 old ships (over 12 years old) and ships reaching the age of special inspection (over 26 years old), accounting for 49.4% and 5.1% of the total. The number of old ships is the same as at the end of 2021, and the number of special inspection ships is one less than that at the end of 2021, a year-on-year decrease of 20%.
